Sunday: ‘from every nation, tribe, people and language’

We woke up bright and early for breakfast on Sunday morning and sat on the lovely veranda and took in the stunning view.

We then set off for church! Juves and Pascal took us to the ‘Vineyard church in Rwanda’ pastored by Antoine, who is also a lawyer and member of Lawyers of Hope. We were given such a warm welcome by the congregation. During worship, two choirs sang in Kinyarwandan. Juves kindly helped explain the meaning of some of the songs and accompanying dance moves which we greatly appreciated!

Pastor Antoine preached about following God’s laws and one of the congregation kindly interpreted for us. A visiting Pastor from Phoenix, Arizona also gave a short word of encouragement to the church.

We ate lunch at a restaurant called Camellia which seemed to be quite popular with tourists. Upon our arrival back at Solace Guest House we had an orientation with Juves who gave us an overview of the work of Lawyers of Hope. The main areas of work are in Family law, Succession law and Child Protection.

The LCF Executive Director Mark Bainbridge joined us on Sunday evening. With the whole team now safely arrived in Kigali and settled in at the Solace Guest House, we are ready and prepared for the week ahead in Rwanda.
